Lactose

I first began to develop my lactose intolerance when I was in third grade. Some of my earliest memories were ruined by it. I remember trying some of my favorite foods like pizza during lunch and not long after being hit by the cramps so hard it would make me dizzy. At first i tried to ignore it, but the pattern became too obvious to just disregard. Pizza, ice cream, milkshakes, every time they would hit me with the same cramps. Eventually I brought it up to my parents, and they took me to a doctor. Thats when I first heard the words lactose intolerant. But even with the diagnosis I still tried my best to ignore it. I wanted to eat foods like ice cream with my friends and not be the only one to refuse a tasty treat. But no matter what the cramps hit just as hard no matter how hard I tried to ignore them. So soon I decided for my own well being I had to make a change. now I have to look for words like "dairy free", Ive had to swap also had to swap regular cow milk to almond milk. A lot of times I wish I wasn't lactose intolerant. Though my allergy is mild compared to others it still effects the way I live every day. But even with the inconvenience, it has taught me to listen to my body more, and that even if something works for others that doesn't work for me, thats ok.
